Rules: block, warn and the change delay
How rules are written, promoted and protected from your future self.
A rule is a sentence
Every rule reads as one sentence with your numbers in it: "Pause new positions for 120 minutes after a daily loss of 2% of equity." Click a number to edit it. The full list of fourteen rules, with examples, is on the rules page of this site.
Warn and block
A rule in warn mode lets the order through and records a warning. A rule in block mode stops the order. Start in warn, watch what fires for a week, then promote the rules you trust. The engine never puts you in block mode by itself.
Scope
A rule applies to all your accounts or to one. Account-level rules override user-level rules of the same type.
Overrides
Off by default per rule. When a rule allows overrides, a blocked order shows an Override button; using it places the order and records the override in the journal and the audit log with your reason. The Journal filter for overrides is where you learn whether they were worth it.
The rule change delay
Tightening a rule applies at once. Loosening one waits for a delay you set in Settings, from minutes to a day. Raising the delay is instant; lowering it waits for the current delay. While a loosening waits, the old rule still applies, and you can cancel the change. This is deliberate: the moment you most want to raise a limit is the moment the limit is doing its job.
Versions
Every edit bumps the rule's version. Blocks record the version that produced them, so a block from last Tuesday is explained by last Tuesday's rule, not today's.
